Beyond the InkPrayer Request
March 15, 2008 Sometime ago, God led me to become more involved in our local church ministries. After meeting with our church leadership and asking for their guidance, we all agreed that my help is most needed in teaching Bible Study opportunities for our young people. So ... Mimi and I have accepted the responsibility of teaching the new class, Beyond the Ink. What a sweet bunch of believers God has gathered for a start! All will be new - the class is cared for under the leadership of Summit Ministries, the singles ministry of our church. The core of starters is a group of young singles, but going forward the class will not be graded by age, gender, or marital status. All are welcome and invited. A new thing for Summit! To date, I have taught the class just a few times. Our ministry begins in earnest March 30, as I begin a series teaching verse by verse through 1 John. May God challenge us all as He feeds His children from His Word! Answer to Prayer
Much change is apparently the answer to our prayers for Beyond the Ink. Our group has changed a great deal - marriages, job moves, and all manner of movement has meant a changing Bible Study family. We moved from 12:15 on Sundays to 10:30 AM on Sundays, from one room to another to the Harbor Room these days. Our class leadership has changed from those God called to begin Beyond the Ink. All we know for sure is that Mimi and I are in for the effort and that we miss many who are no longer a part. At this point, the only thing that remains the same is that we are still studying 1 John. Mimi and I thank God for a new name - Oikos - a new leadership group, and a new view of everything, as we all study 1 John together!
